Protect New Mexico is a personalized, online legislative service offered to members of the public, to help you keep track of important conservation measures being considered by the NM State Legislature during the 2008 session. To sign up for Protect New Mexico, there is a quick three-step registration process.

Step One
Create a username and password, and enter your email address. You must have a valid, working email address to participate in our forum.
Step Two
Protect New Mexico will email you an introductory message containing a Confirmation Code. The message will come from info@ProtectNM.org.

ALERT: Please add our email address to your "Accepted or Approved" senders and turn off any SPAM filters that may block this email. You will have 30 minutes to retrieve the Confirmation Code from your email and complete this step of the registration process.

Step Three
After entering the Confirmation Code, complete the remaining sections in our registration form.

Protect New Mexico is designed to help the public track environmental bills at the NM State Legislature, and encourage greater participation from the public in the legislative process. Features of Protect New Mexico include:

Bill Manager

• The Personalized Bill Organizer allows you to code and track bills that are of particular interest to you.
  
  
• The Calendar function automatically tracks hearings for all conservation-related bills on the system or just those that you have added to your personal bill manager.
  
  
• The Alert system forwards automatic email alerts to you when a bill on your personal tracking list changes (e.g. an action is taken, a hearing is scheduled or the substance has changed).
  
  
• The Search function allows you to search bills by subject area, sponsor, keyword, location or committee assignments.

Detailed Bill Pages


Detailed Bill Pages contain information about each conservation-related measure introduced in the 2008 NM State Legislative session including:

• basic bill information (number, sponsor, etc.),
• summary of the bill,
• issue area(s),
• any actions that have been taken on it,
• its current location,
• any scheduled hearings, and
• documents associated with the bill (e.g. bill text, fiscal impact reports, amendments, committee reports, fact sheets).

Individual Legislator Pages


Information on individual legislators, including their districts, conservation voting records, committees, contact information, media outlets that serve their district, and any environmental bills they’re sponsoring.

Media Section


Contact Information for many of the media outlets throughout the state and the areas they serve.

The Preferences panel allows you to tailor the Protect New Mexico system to your needs. Select instant or daily digest alerts for bills you are tracking, choose between the global or personalized calendar, and manage your password and other personal information.
